Guava Screen Trial: Seeds, Grit and Residue

Plan paired product and reject samples, record screen condition and distinguish hard seed fragments from gritty guava texture.

PAIRED TRIAL / DOUBLE-STAGE PULPER

Read the product and the reject together.

Assign a lot and run ID before changing a screen or preparation step. Collect product and residue over the same stable interval, then retain a separate sample from each working-stage outlet where safely accessible.

TWO ACCEPTANCE QUESTIONS

A seed fragment is not the same finding as gritty texture.

Record discrete hard seed fragments using the agreed separation, counting or inspection method and sample mass. Record gritty texture using a separate product assessment with preparation and temperature held constant. Guava stone cells can contribute graininess even when visible seed fragments are absent.

Define pass/fail criteria with the product owner before the comparison. A screen aperture is a machine variable; it does not by itself establish a maximum finished-particle size or an accepted mouthfeel.

  1. Before the run: assign lot and run IDs; describe feed; identify each screen and its condition after safe isolation.
  2. At stable collection: mark start / stop time, feed and collected masses; label matched product and reject containers.
  3. At assessment: record sample mass, method, hard fragments, texture and retained pulp separately.
  4. At comparison: reconcile mass and screen condition before choosing the next configuration.
