LOT COMPARISON
Flesh colour names the lot. It does not select the screen.
Pink and white guava can be compared usefully only when cultivar, maturity, handling and preparation are recorded. UC Davis lists flesh colour, firmness, seed amount and gritty texture as distinct quality observations. Keep them as separate columns.
| Observation | Pink lot record | White lot record |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Cultivar / local name, origin, receipt date, lot ID | Use the same identity fields; do not assume cultivar from colour. |
| Feed condition | Maturity method, firmness, damage, fruit temperature | Apply the same receiving method and sample preparation. |
| Hard material | Seed condition and seed-fragment observation | Separate visible fragments from the overall texture description. |
| Pulp body / grit | Assessment method, sample temperature, raw or heated state | Stone-cell texture is evaluated independently of retained seeds. |
| Measured composition | Soluble solids, acidity and viscosity with methods where available | Use matching methods; leave an unmeasured value blank. |
| Paired run | Preparation, fitted screens, loading and product/reject sample IDs | Change one variable at a time and keep both stream records. |
EQUIPMENT CONSEQUENCE
Let the observed difference change the duty.
A softer incoming lot changes the preparation discussion; a harder particle finding changes the separation question; a different pulp body changes transfer and treatment selection. None follows from pink or white colour alone.
For a formulated base, carry the accepted lot reference into the recipe and blending batch. For an unformulated pulp, keep the same lot linked through extraction, treatment and filling.
